How much does it cost to request a search by email or letter?
The fee for a search request submitted by email, letter or fax is £8 plus VAT for each search of the registers in addition to a Registers Direct information fee of £3.00 plus VAT per relevant return.
Please note that the £3 Registers Direct fee will not apply to a nil return on a Land Register or General Register of Sasines search.
How much does it cost to request a search when I visit the Customer Service Centre?
The fee for a search in person at our customer service centres is £12.00 plus VAT for each search of the registers in addition to a Registers Direct information fee of £3.00 plus VAT per relevant return.
Please note that the £3 Registers Direct fee will not apply to a nil return on a Land Register or General Register of Sasines search.
Can I request a search of the Registers by phone?
No, please submit your request by email, letter or fax. If you visit the Customer Service Centre to request a search you may pay more for the service.
How much does it cost to obtain information from the Land Register Archive?
The fee for the provision of information from the Land Register archive is £16.00 plus VAT for each deed or document viewed or ordered.
What is the fee to personally present an application for Registration/Recording?
There is a charge of £15 per title number affected by the application, i.e. if one or more dispositions are submitted over 5 separate title numbers the charge would be £75 (5 x £15). For the avoidance of doubt, this is in addition to the registration or recording fee(s).
What is the fee if my personally presented application is rejected?
A fee of £30 per application rejected will be charged. For the avoidance of doubt, if an application is rejected the £15 presentment fee will be waived. If the application is re-submitted as a personal presentment the £15 presentment fee will be payable.
Please note: There is no rejection fee for Sasine deeds presented for recording
What is the fee for quick copy or duplicate deed(s) and how long does it take for me to receive the document?
A quick copy or duplicate deed costs £16.00 plus VAT *.
We aim to despatch quick copies of deeds within 2 working days.
Where the National Archives of Scotland (NAS) have to obtain the original deed to produce a copy there is an additional fee of £15.
* Please note that in respect of copy deeds/extracts, unless the parties and date of recording are provided a search will need to be undertaken. This would result in an additional search fee being charged.
What is the fee for an official extract or certified copy of a deed and how long does it take for me to receive the document?
An official extract or certified copy deed costs £30 plus VAT*.
We aim to despatch official extracts or certified copies of a deeds within 8 working days.
Where the NAS have to obtain the original deed to produce the extract there is an additional fee of £19.
* Please note that in respect of copy deeds/extracts, unless the parties and date of recording are provided a search will need to be undertaken. This would result in an additional search fee being charged.
How much is the premium service for copy deeds and extracts and how long does it take?
This service costs an additional £30 plus Vat per deed and is only available on copy deeds and extracts obtained via the NAS. The turnaround time for the premium service is 24 hours for copy deeds and 2 working days for extracts
What is the fee for each additional extract of any deed or document ordered at the same time as recording in the Register of Sasines or registration in the Books of Council and Session?
Additional extract requested simultaneously with the time of recording or registration cost £10 plus VAT.
How much does an Office Copy cost?
The fee for an Office Copy is £30 plus VAT. The turnaround time for this service is 5 working days.
