Awards
The Government wants public services for all that are efficient, effective, equitable and empowering — with the citizen always and everywhere at the heart of public service provision.
Customer Service Excellence scheme
The Customer Service Excellence scheme is the Government's award scheme which recognises and encourages excellence in public service.
RoS has successfully achieved the award for Customer Service Excellence for 2012. This award is a recognised UK standard for public sector organizations. It measures customer insight, quality of delivery, timeliness, information and access, professionalism and staff attitude in the provision of public services.
Since being awarded this accreditation in 2010 we have improved our performance year on year. This year we retained our compliance plus rating for the range of information we make available to our customers and co-operative working with other providers, partners and communities. We received a partial compliance rating for only one aspect of our services being providing customers with the information they need in ways which met their preferences.
The assessor’s report stated that, ”the culture of RoS remains strongly focused on customers and their needs with leadership from all levels and regular training to maintain the focus”.
Healthy Working Lives (HWL)
RoS first achieved the HWL Gold Award in spring 2008 and we were delighted to retain the Gold award following a full reassessment in spring 2011.
This award, which is valid for three years, is presented to organisations that demonstrate long-term commitment to improving health and wellbeing both within the workplace and in the wider community. To achieve the Healthy Working Lives Gold Award standard, organisations are required to encourage and promote the health and wellbeing of employees by introducing relevant policies, supporting healthy eating choices and physical activity, providing health information, following best practice in relation to health and safety matters and environmental issues. In addition, organisations are required to undertake activities that improve the health and wellbeing and employability of the wider community.
Investors in People (IIP)
Investors in People is a national quality standard which sets a level of good practice for improving an organisation's performance through its people. The Standard provides a framework for improving business performance through ensuring our staff have the knowledge, skills and motivation to work efficiently and effectively. Registers of Scotland first attained the Standard in 2000 and this has been renewed in 2003, 2006 and 2009.
Working Families Award
RoS has been recognised by Working Families (a leading UK Charity) as one of the Top 30 employers in the UK for encouraging work/life balance. The Top Employers for Working Families awards is the definitive list of the UK’s best organisations for working families and recognises organisations across the UK that do the most to support the work-life balance needs of all their employees. In addition, RoS was short-listed as a finalist in the Best for Carers award and we also received a special commendation in the Best for Fathers award. This recognition is based on our family-friendly employment policies, flexitime system and suite of options available as part of our alternative working practises.
