Registers Direct — Technical Details
Computer systems will require the following software to run the new version of RD (free to download from www.adobe.com):
- Adobe Reader version 8.1 (or above)
- Adobe Flash Player version 9 (or above)
(Users are advised that certain PDF program readers have been found to distort and misrepresent colour references on, and the depiction of, Title Plan images viewed through Registers Direct. To ensure the accurate display of information users are recommended to update their PDF reader software to Adobe Reader versions 8.1.0 and above. Registers of Scotland does not accept liability for the inaccurate display of Title information caused by user software.)
Our eServices have been developed using standards set down by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These include:
- xHTML 1.0
- CSS2
- ECMAScript (standardised Javascript)
- WCAG AA compliance (aspirational, where specific technology allows)
and any browser that supports these standards should perform well with our eServices.
We have specifically tested the main features of Registers Direct using the following browsers,
- Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 6, 7 and 8.
- Mozilla Firefox version 3.5
- Google Chrome version 3
- Apple Safari version 4.0
As our testing continues the list of browsers will expand.

If you experience problems printing please check that your margins are correctly set as information from the top/bottom of the page will not be printed out (entries may be entirely missing on printed pages.
To check your margins — in the Register Direct window, click File on your toolbar. Choose Page Set Up. Left, right, top and bottom margins should all be set to 10mm.
