A plan presented to the Keeper in terms of the preceding sub-paragraphs will not be acceptable if it is declared to be demonstrative only. Such a plan must be taxative, although it is acceptable if measurements are qualified by the words ‘or thereby’. Application for Form 14 report 4.21 The guidelines suggested in paragraph 4.13 with reference to an application for a Form 10 report apply equally here. However, this form of enquiry will very often be used by a third party with little or no information about the property in question. In that situation, especially in the absence of a postal description, a plan indicating the subjects in respect of which information is sought will have to be submitted with the application. Ordnance Map Scales 4.22 Of the map data produced and maintained by Ordnance Survey, those on the following scales will be used by the Keeper, namely: 1:10000 mountain and moorland areas; 1:2500 villages, small towns and rural areas; 1:1250 cities and larger towns. Copying ordnance maps (copyright) 4.23 As the ordnance map is the cornerstone of the Scottish system of registration of title, there will be occasions when solicitors will wish to make copies of ordnance maps. To do so without permission is a breach of crown copyright. Information about licences to allow copying can be obtained from: ORDNANCE SURVEY CUSTOMER SERVICES DIGITAL HELP DESK Telephone: 01703 792773    Fax: 01703 792324 E mail: dighlpdesk@ordsvy.gov.uk Title plans prepared by the Keeper are prepared by him under licence. It is also a breach of crown copyright to copy title plans,  unless a licence has  been obtained  from Ordnance Survey. The licences mentioned above will, however, cover such copying. Copying (distortion) 4.24 Because of optical distortion or paper shrinkage, copies made on most office copying machines are not completely accurate reproductions. Where the copy is required for illustrative purposes, these inaccuracies  may  not  matter.  In  other  circumstances,  however,  because  of  the  small  scale,  the inaccuracies   can   be   material;   scaling   alone   on   such   copy   plans,   unsupported   by   specific measurements, should not be relied upon.
