Mapping requirements under the 2012 act

The 2012 Act places mapping at the heart of the land register. The focal point for that is the new cadastral map. The cadastral map, is, in essence, a map showing all registered property in Scotland.

Plans and maps have always presented challenges for registration. Under the Land Registration (Scotland) Act 1979, the main reason for a first registration application being stood over pending further dialogue with the submitting agent, or for being cancelled was due to difficulties identifying the subjects and plotting them on to the land register map.
