The Registers of Scotland (Voluntary Registration, Amendment of Fees, etc) order 2015 was laid in parliament on Thursday 14 May 2015. The order is subject to affirmative procedure and will lay in parliament for 40 days.
The order includes changes that, subject to parliamentary approval, will allow us to implement the main recommendations of the land register completion consultation report. The proposed changes will be brought into force on two commencement dates:
30 June 2015
- a 25% reduction to the fees for voluntary registration
- an amendment to the fee for DW dispositions that evacuate survivorship from ad valorem to £60
1 April 2016
- closure of the General Register of Sasines to standard securities, and waiving the fee for associated voluntary registrations
- removing the keeper's discretionary power to refuse voluntary registration
