Land register - rejection policy change

Published: 08 November 2016

Following feedback from customers, RoS have amended our policy in relation to the rejection of applications for registration.

The policy changes concern submitted applications that do not contain sufficient information to allow the land affected by a registrable encumbrance, such as a servitude, to be shown on the cadastral map in the land register.

Now, only those applications for registration of a deed creating a new encumbrance that affects part of the plot being registered, or part of a registered plot, will be rejected where insufficient information has been provided.

For further information, updated guidance can be found in the general guidance sections 'rights and the title sheet', 'encumbrances and off-register rights', and in 'the cadastral map'.
