Audit and Risk Committee member appointments

Published: 04 September 2018

We are seeking new Audit and Risk Committee members.

Registers of Scotland (RoS) is undergoing an exciting transformation that will see us at the forefront of government bodies delivering services digitally.

The Corporate Plan, which we launched in April this year, set out our vision to be a digital registration and information business trusted for our integrity.

To do this we’ve set our four strategic objectives:

  • Completion of the land register by 2024
  • ScotLIS as the platform of choice
  • Being digital by 2020
  • Running an agile and sustainable business

About the role

As a commercial organisation, we need committee members who can challenge, inspire and advise us as we maximise our worth to Scotland’s economy, citizens and businesses. Your role in the organisation will be fundamental in improving our current services and capturing commercial opportunities.

The Audit and Risk Committee advises the RoS Board and its operations director and accountable officer on the strategic approach to:

  • risk management
  • corporate governance
  • financial controls and reporting.

It provides independent and informed advice on planned audit activity, evaluates the output of both internal and external audit and the management response to any issues identified.

We are seeking someone who has senior management experience, and good communication skills, who can provide challenging, innovative and informed input.

To complement the knowledge, skills and experience of our existing members in accounting, risk management and public sector accountability, we would particularly welcome applications from those with digital transformation delivery experience in a large organisation, public sector accounting and finance and/or marketing or commercial expertise.

Time commitment will vary between 10-12 days per year and the position is remunerated.

If you would like to discuss these opportunities with the operations director and accountable officer, Janet Egdell, please contact Secretariat at rossecretariat@ros.gov.uk.

RoS places considerable emphasis on diversity at board level and we welcome applications from appropriately qualified candidates in all sections of the community, and from people with diverse experience and backgrounds.

How to apply

Applications will be made by submitting a CV and covering letter. The closing date for submitting an application is Sunday 23 September 2018 and interviews are expected to be held in October 2018.

Please email your application to recruitment@ros.gov.uk or post to HR Resourcing, Meadowbank House, 153 London Road, Edinburgh, EH8 7AU.

All correspondence will be treated in strictest confidence.
