Re-opening the application record

Published: 04 August 2022 - 12:35pm

The Land Register application record and the Register of Sasines will fully re-open on 01 March 2021.

This date has been agreed with the Law Society of Scotland.

It is important as it means those Advance Notices which were extended by the Coronavirus (Scotland) Act 2020 will expire, 10 days later, on 11 March 2021.

An Advance Notice secures a placeholder for the registration application to arrive. They also offer certain protections for the deed for a stated period.

Any application for registration of a deed protected by an Advance Notice extended by the 2020 Act should be submitted online by midnight on Wednesday 10 March.

If your application includes associated papers to be submitted via the non-digital documents process, then they must be received in RoS offices by 09 March at the very latest.

This will ensure it can be taken onto the application record before the protected period expires.

Live Advance Notices will continue to offer protection until the end of 11 March or until the rest of its statutory 35-day period has run out. Whichever date is later.

You can find full details on how to submit an application and how to use our non-digital documents function on our website.
