Further update to the burdens and servitudes questions
Date of change 19 October 2026
- Change to the burdens and servitudes questions in Register Land Property (RLP):
- Applies to First Registrations and Voluntary Registrations
This change will let us:
- collect information about servitudes which benefit the plot separately from information about conditions which burden the plot
- process voluntary registration applications more efficiently
Servitude rights
For voluntary registrations only.
There will be a separate question which will ask you to confirm which prior deeds, from your document inventory, contain servitude rights which benefit the plot to be registered

Burdens
For both voluntary registrations and first registrations.
The question about existing burdens and servitudes will be modified to ask only about burdens and servitudes which burden the plot to be registered.

Digital submission document upload process
Date of change 25 August 2026
- New document upload functionality
- Applies to all application types
When submitting applications through the Digital Submissions Service (DSS), the information provided in the document inventory will be used to guide you through the upload process.
Additional documents can be added and labelled if needed.
All documents will be reviewed before submission.
Subjects of an application are in a RoS research area (RA)
When completing the document inventory in Register Land and Property (RLP) deeds recorded before the split-off do not need to be listed or submitted.

Burdens and servitudes questions
Date of change 25 August 2026
- Change to the burdens and servitudes questions in RLP
- Applies to First Registrations and Voluntary Registrations
We will ask:
- if the deed to be registered creates any new burdens or servitude rights
- you to confirm which prior deeds, from your document inventory, contain burdens or servitude rights which affect the plot to be registered
When the subjects are within a RA, we do not need you tell us about deeds before the split-off.
