It takes around ten minutes to complete, and you can remain completely anonymous if you wish. However, there is an option to add your details if you require a specific response. The survey will close on Monday 12 October 2026.

Changes to how customers access Sasine deeds – coming November 2026
National Records of Scotland and Registers of Scotland are working together to improve how customers access Sasine deeds.
From Tuesday 17 November 2026, Sasine deed requests post 1869 will only be processed by Registers of Scotland. As the statutory keeper of the General Register of Sasines, Registers of Scotland is already the primary provider of this service.
National Records of Scotland (NRS) will continue to hold the historic Sasine volumes and burgh registers as part of our archival collections. Requests for sasine deeds pre 1869, any requests for Burgh, Particular and General Registers; Books of Council & Session; Register of Inhibitions; and Duplicate Plans will be processed by National Records of Scotland.

Please note: From 17 November 2026 the fee charged by NRS for a Sasine Deed will be £40 + VAT. This fee will be applied for any request to search the records for a legal purpose that does not contain a reference number. Fees for requests including a reference number, and requests that fall under historical and academic research remain unchanged. The fee for a Sasine Deed from RoS remains as £25 + VAT.
We’re changing our House Price Statistics to be more accessible
We are making some improvements to the monthly House Price Statistics from Tuesday 1 September to make them more accessible and easier to use.
These updates include using the median as the primary measure of house prices, adding small area statistics to the monthly release, and improving the format and accessibility of our data tables.

Improving the search experience on our website
We've been exploring new ways to improve the search experience on our website. Through a pilot of AI Conversational Search, users can now receive clear summaries of relevant content and be guided directly to the source information with a simple call to action.
The pilot has helped us validate both the quality of our content and how effectively it's indexed, supporting our wider goal of creating a more intuitive, modern digital experience for our customers.
