Geovation Scotland welcomes latest group of data innovators

The six Scottish start-ups joining a successful business growth programme have been unveiled.

The Geovation Scotland Accelerator, a collaboration between Registers of Scotland and Ordnance Survey, helps early-stage companies developing sustainable solutions in the land, property, and location sectors.

Following a highly competitive recruitment process, six innovative start-ups are ready to take the next steps in growing business that aim to address global challenges and have a positive impact on the Scottish economy.

Since its launch in 2019, Geovation Scotland has supported 29 companies that have gone on to create over 70 jobs and raise an additional £4.2million in investment.

This year’s cohort are:

  • VanFill Ltd, which aims to connect businesses and individuals looking to move goods, with transport providers who have empty spaces in their vans and trucks
  • EmergencyLocate, a cloud-based service designed to assist emergency, search and rescue organisations to accurately locate those in need
  • EMCAI Solutions, which creates software-based tools to enhance the efficiency of cost consultants within the construction industry
  • Weavecentrix, a digital dashboard service designed for rail freight operators who need to keep their wagons safe and available for hire
  • Optab which brings AI to the development of the built environment to deliver complex builds efficiently and sustainably
  • WFHere, a marketplace connecting remote workers to businesses looking for footfall. Their mission is to maximise the sustainable utilisation of vacant spaces.

The companies will have access to a wide range of resources including:

  • Supported access to Registers of Scotland and Ordnance Survey data
  • Up to £15,000 equity-free programme funding
  • A bespoke programme of content, coaching and support
  • Use of the Geovation working spaces in Edinburgh and London
  • Access to a community of over 1,900 members UK-wide.

Jess Sibley, Geovation Scotland’s accelerator programme manager, said:

“We are delighted to welcome six new start-ups on to the 2024 Geovation Scotland accelerator programme. Each company is uniquely placed to solve a significant problem within their individual sectors, and we are very much looking forward to supporting them to develop their products & solutions and aiding their growth over the coming months.”
