Our Community Benefits Group

Published: 30 June 2023

RoS seeks to make a positive contribution in the workplace and to the society in which we operate.

The Community Benefits Group (CBG) are granted a small annual budget that we use to sponsor worthy causes that are beneficial to groups that RoS staff are involved with, such as sports clubs, community gardens and other non-charitable groups.

What’s new?

For the first time this financial year, we now support groups out-with RoS employees.

As well as continuing to support groups where RoS colleagues are involved, we are looking for requests with a connection to RoS and/or the local communities where our offices are based.

The activities we support align to:

  • RoS core values,
  • Corporate Social Responsibility objectives,
  • enhance the visibility of community benefit activities, and
  • continue to maximise community engagement.

Group activity

This year CBG:

  • supported an event held by Friends of Newlands Park and partners to help them tell the historic story of the land being gifted to them using their title deeds.
  • provided funding to football teams for kits/equipment including Edinburgh City, Royal High Primary, Newcraighall Leith VIC and Musselburgh Windsor.
  • helped a Fife dance school attend the World Lyrical Championships in Dublin 2022 who then brought home a world title!
  • supported Forrester Rugby junior rugby clubs with kit and equipment to encourage youth rugby and promote health and wellbeing to children from the ages of two to primary seven.
  • funded the cost of a venue to support the ASN Community Group in Dunbar.
  • contributed to the City of Edinburgh Trampoline Club to help with the essential, annual service and repair to their trampolines.
  • are helping fund the Shetland swim team who are attending the Island Games in Guernsey in July 2023.
