Responsible use of AI

RoS is an employer that values transparency in every area of our work. We want to offer every candidate an equal opportunity to showcase their skills, experience and knowledge.

We value authenticity. If you want your application to stand out, using a generic AI-generated response is not going to separate you from the crowd, even if it promises to personalise the response. Interviews are designed to probe deeper into your skills and experiences, so this will give us a clear indication of whether the application matches the real person at the interview, or if it’s something AI has generated.

The goal of using AI in your job application is to enhance your written application and showcase your best self. We want to know about the real you.

Review the points below before considering AI to help write your application.

  • Your answers must show how your personal experience, knowledge, understanding and skills fit the role you are applying for.
  • Content generated by AI can be generic. It may not answer the specific criteria or competencies outlined in the job description.
  • You should never rely on AI-generated content that is not truthful or reflective of your personal experiences. This may negatively impact your chances of success.
  • If you are invited to an assessment, you will complete various exercises to evidence the skills, knowledge and experience you have developed during your career.

If you choose to use AI at the application stage

Do:

  • use AI to explore ideas and provide a high-level framework for structuring your answers.
  • review and edit any AI-generated content to ensure the accuracy or validity of statements.
  • ensure AI-created materials reflect your own skills, experiences and knowledge.
  • use your critical judgement to use AI in an ethical and appropriate way.

Do not:

  • rely solely on AI to create the application content for you.
  • assume recruiters will be unaware and will not detect AI-generated content.
  • include any unverified skills or experiences as part of your application.
  • provide AI with any sensitive organisational data – while you can use it to strengthen your example, do not enter data such as figures or other sensitive information.
  • use AI during the interview or assessment stages.

We may arrange a pre-screening call to verify your answers.
