Questions 1 & 2

Information on the number of contingent staff employed and the cost of these staff for the financial years 2022-23; 2021-22; 2020-21 and 2019-20 is available via our annual reports which are published on our website. These can be located though our publications page.

Information on the number of contingency staff employed and the cost of these staff for 2023-24 (to date) is:

2023-24 / (up to p9)
Full-time equivalent (FTE) 149
Cost in £000 17,922

FTE is closely linked to expenditure so is more representative than using headcount, which could be misleading about actual cost per person.

As with previous years, the complete data will be published with our 2023-24 annual report later this calendar year.

Question 3

The longest individual contract duration, which included a number of extensions, commenced during the period 24/06/2019 -25/03/2022 (33 months). To note, we do not offer employee contracts to contingent workers but instead have services contracts with the suppliers.
