RoS reuses

Published: 12 April 2022

Last year we published our Sustainability and Climate Change strategy 2021-2026. At the heart of this is our pledge to meet net-zero for direct greenhouse emissions by 2040 and indirect emissions by 2045.

RoS has committed to embedding sustainability in every business decision we make; we will reduce our environmental impact and build sustainability into our business and operational framework. Included in this is our commitment to collaborate with local organisations and other public sector bodies to meet our targets.

Due to the pandemic restrictions of the last few years and with the introduction of hybrid working, there was a need to look at the office layout and use of furniture and space in our offices. Our teams have been looking for ways to reuse and repurpose over 700 items of furniture.

Working with Kinross Wooden Products Company and Kythe, watch the video below to find out what we were able to achieve with desks that would have been bound for disposal or landfill.

This project has saved 74 tonnes of CO2, this is the equivalent emissions of the energy use for an entire year of 8 homes.

We will continue to reduce our carbon footprint in line with Scottish Government targets and capture the environmental impact across all our operations and embed change.
