Title Inaccuracy Enquiries (TIE) service

Published: 17 July 2023

We have been working towards developing a new service for submitting post registration enquiries. The new Title Inaccuracy Enquiries (TIE) service will go live on 17 July.

If you consider that there may be an inaccuracy in a land register title, you must fully investigate the matter to confirm that an inaccuracy exists before you contact the Keeper.

If your investigations do establish that an inaccuracy exists, you should submit all the information and evidence that you have considered when you make your enquiry.

What are the benefits to our customers?

Our aim is to improve customer experience.

The new service will provide:

  • Title look up and validation, ensuring it is captured correctly
  • Pre-population of your details, linked to your existing online services account
  • An enquiry dashboard, giving greater visibility of enquiry status
  • Secure upload of supporting documents in .pdf format in line with our existing registration submission services
  • More effective routing, ensuring your enquiry is always directed to the correct team

If you are unsure on how to set up a business account, you can find more information here.

Why did we need to change?

Enquiries are currently submitted by various methods and channels. Enquiries submitted by email are often sent to the wrong mailbox and may not contain all the information needed to process the enquiry.

The change will mean there is a single submissions dashboard that links directly to our systems. It will reduce the requirement to manually input details as well as being able to validate title numbers, and meet required accessibility standards.
