Registers of Scotland continues to provide the majority of our services digitally or remotely. RoS offices remain closed to external visitors.

Progress on digital regulations

On 26 January the Economy and Fair Work Committee recommended that the Registers of Scotland (Digital Registration, etc.) Regulations 2022 be approved.

This is the next step in putting digital submissions by default on a permanent basis. It will also enable the registration of full electronic documents in the Register of Deeds and Probative Writs in the Books of Council and Session.

These regulations are designed to work in tandem with the newly introduced Coronavirus (Recovery and Reform) (Scotland) Bill. The relevant provisions will commence at the same time depending on the Bill’s passage.

You can view the regulations on legislation.gov.uk and you can view the passage of the Bill and access its supporting documentation on the Scottish Parliament website.

Coming soon – Sasine digital submission update

Our Sasine digital submission process is changing.

Following on from the removal of requirement to sign Sasine application forms last year, we are updating our Sasine Digital Submission Service to accept the alpha code from your Sasine application form. An alpha code is a unique eight-character code that can be found on the bottom right of every application form.

Once the changes are live, there will no longer be a requirement to enter application details and manually upload the Sasine application form for Sasine and dual registration digital submissions.

This update will ensure our Sasine submission service is consistent with our Land Register and Advance Notice services.

Please look out for more information coming soon.

CPD webinar accreditation

I am pleased to announce that our RoS webinar series is now certified for Continuous Professional Development (CPD), and you will automatically receive a certificate for attendance.

Our webinar programme for the first quarter of 2022 is now available. Book your place and gain your CPD points now.

Register Land & Property

RLP is available on the Online Services home page to all firms who submit land register applications.

We have 428 firms already using RLP and based on customer feedback we are continuing to develop and roll out service improvements.

RLP now supports the creation of cases for DPA plots where ownership is being transferred from multiple parent titles.

The creditor search within RLP has been further enhanced to improve the user experience.

Future enhancements include making technical changes which will enable us to improve the way we capture and display data on the application form. This will make it easier to enter party information, including aliases, executor & trustee details, and company details.

For more information, including a demonstration, you can access the recordings of our recent webinars or join us at our next webinar on 2 March.
