King’s Coronation 8 May – Office closure

We will be closed on Monday 8 May 2023, for one day.

Find out more about how we’ll handle submissions over the bank holiday.

Register Land and Property – 100 new deed types

We have now expanded Register Land and Property (RLP) capability to include over 100 new deed types to add to your case. This means you can now use RLP for most deed types over the whole of a single registered title.

RCI – compliance period extension

The Scottish Parliament has agreed to extend the compliance period for submissions to the Register of Persons Holding a Controlled Interest in Land. The deadline before offence provisions will have effect has now changed from 1 April 2023 to 1 April 2024.

Ministers were responding to concerns raised by some stakeholders, recognising the wider challenges caused by issues such as Brexit, the pandemic, and the current economic pressures.

All those in scope are still expected to comply with the requirement to register. Ministers encourage everyone who is eligible to engage with the process as early as possible.

The Scottish Government and RoS will work together to continue to raise awareness and help support stakeholders through the process during the extended transitional period.

For more information visit the Scottish Government website.

If you have questions about how this relates to making a submission to the register visit our RCI guidance.

Geovation Scotland – applications open

Do you have a great business idea or start-up that uses geospatial, land or property data, or know somebody who does?

The Geovation Scotland Accelerator Programme is now open for applications.

Offering up to £15k in equity-free grant funding, workshops, coaching, and more.

Applications close 24 April.

Report publication “Land and property titles by location of owner at time of purchase”

On 28 March we published the “Land and property titles in Scotland by location of owner at time of purchase” report. The statistics are based on Land Register titles as at 31 December 2022.

Moveable Transactions

The Moveable Transactions (Scotland) Bill provides for two new registers which will be managed by RoS. Its purpose is to make financing a business easier by modernising the law covering how moveable property can be used to access credit.

The Bill is currently at stage 3. You can follow the passage of the Bill on the Scottish Parliament website.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Registers of Scotland seeks to make a positive contribution in the workplace and to the society in which we operate.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is integrated across our organisation, and we have recently launched our new CSR homepage.
